Our Year 5/6 students enjoyed a wonderful few days away at Camp Maranatha, Tuckekoi, from Monday to Wednesday this week. Camp is always a special part of the school year, offering students the chance to grow in confidence, strengthen friendships and create memories that will stay with them for a long time. Across the three days, students challenged themselves in so many ways — canoeing, taking on the Leap of Faith, flying across the dam on the flying fox, enjoying Frisbee Golf and testing their map reading skills in Radio Rogaining. It was wonderful to see students stepping outside their comfort zones, encouraging one another and approaching each activity with such enthusiasm and determination.
As you might expect, the first night brought plenty of excitement, with a little less sleep than usual as students enjoyed the novelty of sharing cabins with friends. By the second night, things were much quieter, before an early and very chilly wake up to pack up and head home. Alongside the fun and adventure, camp also provided many opportunities for students to show resilience, independence and care for one another, and these are often the moments that make camp such a valuable experience. A huge thank you to the staff who gave so generously of their time, care and energy across the three days to make this experience possible for our students: Miss Lomax, Ms Wilson, Mrs Gibson, Mrs Carlos, Mrs Hill, Miss Gaddes and Miss Mac. Their encouragement, support and willingness to go above and beyond helped make camp such a positive and memorable experience for our Year 5/6 students.
